Dear Friends of Beeville, The Fifth annual Bee West Fest will be held Oct. 14-16, 2004. We will start with the Taste Of Beeville on Thursday, Oct. 14th. We invite you and your organization to participate that evening. Again, this year it will be held in the Bee County Coliseum. There should be plenty of space for everyone. The cost for a booth is only $25.00, which goes to defray the rent of the building, electricity, security, etc. There is an entry form enclosed. Your booth fee is required when you send in the form. We will supply one (1) table and two (2) chairs per booth. Because the Coliseum is being used for court, we need those booths that require more set up than usual to set up on Wed. Oct. 13th from 4:30-6:00. The others may start setting up at 4:30 on Thurs. Oct. 14th and the doors will open at 6:00 p.m. Each organization can bring or prepare one food item for sale to the public. In the past, we have let some booths bring more than one item, but this has caused a problem. Please do not bring more than one food item. This has been a good fund-raiser for the organizations in the past. Please price your food to make a profit. If there are more than two identical foods (i.e. nachos), the first and second organization will get to prepare that food and we will call the others to make a change. This allows for a wide variety of foods for the public to taste. There will be a booth contest to make it fun for your organization. There will be monetary prizes awarded. Decorate however you please, but remember to bring extension cords, if needed, and you will need to tear down at 9:00 p.m. The booths are open to any organization that wants to make a little money and get their name out in front of the public. Again, this year we are hoping the restaurants of Beeville will participate. Name recognition and sampling of your best food may bring your organization new business or new members. One concern we have faced in the past is the lack of participants with food handler’s permits. Anyone who handles the food MUST have the permit and have it with them that night. Also the food must be prepared in an approved kitchen or church kitchen. Any food prepared at home cannot be sold to the public, except bake sale items (i.e.. cookies, candy or cake). Please call the county health department to schedule your class. 362-3232 We look forward to a successful and fun evening. Send in your entry form by Sept. 24th and get the food of your choice. Sincerely, |
