Pedro M. “Pete” Soliz Sr., a former resident of Beeville, was called into the Precious Gates of Heaven on May 23, 2005. 

Pete was born on May 19, 1919 in the Clareville Community to the late Juan Antonio Soliz and Augustina Medina, also was preceded in death by his first wife Olivia Vasquez Soliz.  He passed away in Houston, Texas.  Pete had resided in Houston, Texas for the past several years.  He was a retired service station attendant for Exxon. 

Pete is survived by his wife Anna P. Soliz of Houston, Texas; two daughters; Mary Lou (Daniel) Longoria of Beeville, and Gloria (Bill) Crawley of Dallas, Texas; four sons; Pete V. (Angie) Soliz of Pasadena, Texas Tony (Cruz) Soliz of Phelan, Ca., Ray V. Soliz of Sugar Land, Texas and Robert (Susie) Soliz of Houston, Texas; one sister; Irene Soliz of Beeville, Texas 14 grandchildren; Suzette Corona, Joanne French, Kimberly Christy, Roxanne Soliz, Corinna and Jacob Longoria, Steve, Bobby, Robert, Ray Anthony, Gregory and Angela Soliz, John Richard and Sky William Slater; 16 great grandchildren; Dena Rae French, Susanna Marie and Charlie Christy, Marisa, Erica, Jessica, Maya Olivia, Gregory, Lauren Slater, and Dayne Soliz, Charlie Stewart, Michael Ray, Bill Donald and Dawn Elizabeth Bieber, Stephanie and Vincent Corona Jr. 

Rosary will recited at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 25, 2005 at the Trevino Funeral Home Chapel in Beeville, Texas. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, May 26, 2005 at St. James Catholic Church in Beeville, Texas with Father Pat Donahoe officiating. Burial will follow at the Our Lady of Victory Cemetery # 2.  Serving as pallbearers will be Ray Anthony Soliz, Robert Soliz, Jacob Longoria, John Richard Slater, Bobby Soliz and Dena Rae French.



 Birds of Paradise were released as a symbolic beauty representing the spirit of the departed loved one being released to begin the final journey home. Five white doves were released to ascend and circle the area.  Moments later, a single white dove was released; representing the spirit of the departing loved one.  Once released, it joins the others which represent the Father, The Son and the Holy Ghost and is lovingly guided on the final journey home.
