Manuel W. Cano
January 31, 1931 - March 10, 2003
Beeville, Texas

Mr. Manuel W. Cano was taken by our Lord into the Gates of Heaven, on Monday, March 10, 2003 at the age of 72. 

Manuel was born in Beeville, Texas on January 31, 1931 to the late Salvador Cano and Calistra Weisheimer. 

He was also preceded in death by his  three sisters;  Genoveva Vega, Jesusa Caldera,Margarita Moron and his half sister Sophia Espinoza Ortega also his three brothers Celestino Cano, Trino Cano Sr., Jose W. Cano and one half brother Pedro Espinoza Sr. 

  Mr. Cano was a retired foreman for the City of Beeville Water Department for 40 years.  Manuel was a faithful Catholic devoted to his religious and was active with The Holy Name Society.  He enjoyed playing baseball and was one of the original members of the Beeville Blue Jays, playing semi-pro baseball. Mr. Cano enjoyed spending quality time with his family talking about sports and always giving good advice to his family. 

He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years of marriage Valentina Gonzales Cano of Beeville, Texas;  one daughter Adeliada Ortiz Castillo of Marian, Indiana; one son Juan M. Cano of Houston, Texas; his grandchildren Juan and Tina Cano, Domingo Castillo Jr., David Castillo and Diana C. Quiroga, Deana Vice and Daniel Castillo and his great-grandchildren Victor and Alex Quiroga and Sammuel Castillo. Also his sister; Rosa Hernandez of Beeville, Texas. 

Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 13, 2003 at Trevino Funeral Home Chapel at 7:00 p.m.  Mass of Resurrection will be held at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church  on Friday, March 14, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Lowrey officiating with burial to follow at the Evergreen Cemetery in Skidmore, Texas.  Pallbearers will be Joe Cano, Victor and Robert Quiroga, Frank Moron, Juan Cano and Susano Hernandez. Honorary Pallbearers were Salvador Cano, Trino Cano Jr. and Pedro Espinoza Jr. 

Birds of Paradise will be released bringing an elegant beauty as they circle the area and rise towards heaven to begin their journey into Heaven.  The beautiful elegant snow white birds left an exceptionally powerful heart felt memory in the hearts of all who attended and brought peace, tranquility, and hope to all who watched.

God’s Spirit shall flow through us and in flowing through us, it shall sweep away all the bitter past.  We will take heart, each day will unfold something good, as long as we try to live the way God wants us to live.
