Mrs. Israel was born
in Cestohowa and grew up in Karnes City, but was a
longtime resident of Beeville and a member of the
First Baptist Church. She was primarily a
housewife and mother, but brightened the day
serving diners in many local restaurants over the
years. She also sold r She was proud to be from a law enforcement family. Her father Hugh Kendall was constable and deputy sheriff, her brother Alger Kendall served as sheriff and brother Clyde Kendall, chief of police in Karnes County. Her nephew Alger Hugh Kendall was formerly assistant district attorney and was recently elected judge in Karnes County.
Her family wishes to express special thanks to the Mueller twins for their frequent visits while she was a resident of Hillside Nursing Home for a few months last year. Mrs. Israel was preceded in death by her husband John Eric Israel, her son Bartell Israel, grandson Max Daniel Maxon, and great granddaughter Jessica Dennis. She is survived by daughters Beda Kantarjian of Longwood, Florida, and Etta Ruthenberg of San Antonio, Texas, eight grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
