May 1, 2004 is scheduled the Family Fun Day.
Festivities will begin at 10:00 a.m. at the Word of Life parking
lot. We will kick off the morning with a visit from a local fire
truck (and maybe from the Dalmatian firedog too). After a short
presentation, time for the kids to ask questions and feel their
way around a fire truck, we will head to the Cantrell home for the
rest of the day's events. Cantrell directions: Bus. 181 N. to
Bronco Lane. Turn right on Bronco. Off Bronco take a left onto
Dodd Lane. The address is 229 Dodd. (behind Word of Life Church)
Lunch will be a potluck picnic. Bring a cooler of drinks for
your family, picnic items (napkins, plates, & eating utensils),
lawn chairs (or blankets) & food to share for the potluck picnic.
After a lunch and fellowship the afternoon will be filled with
field events for the family. Sac races, face pointing, obstacle
courses, ring toss, etc. will be planned. NO ONE WILL BE LEFT
OUT!!!!! A planning meeting for those who would like to help plan
these activities will take place at Ali Cantrell's, Thursday April
22 at 3:00 p.m.. Teenagers are especially needed. Any questions
can be directed to Ali at 358-7795.
If the weather is extremely warm, the day will end about 5:00
p.m.. witha water balloon and water gun fight. Adults and
children are urged to bring balloons and guns. (Dads can buy
Super Soakers at Wal-Mart for the challenge). This will probably
start out children against adults but end in a free for all.
HOPE TO SEE EVERYONE THERE!!!!!
Graduation will be May 27, 2004.
NOTICE: this is NOT on a Friday but on a Thursday night.
Due to Beeville High School's graduation ceremony we have allowed
for any conflicting agendas. Graduation will be Ysidio Garza,
kindergarten, Wendy Monroe, eighth grade and Nicholas Salas, high
school. The event will begin at 7:00 p.m.. Anyone interested in
doing special talent need to notify Joyce Salas a.s.a.p.
358-5528. A BBQ dinner will follow. The Salas family will be
donating the meat, drinks, plates, napkins, and utensils. Other
homeschool families need to bring side dishes and a dessert. All
homeschoolers are urged to attend. Many families use this as a
time to acknowledge their children's accomplishments and teacher's
dedication. Some give out special gifts or awards. It is our
last event
for these 2003-2004 academic year.
It has been mentioned that a book swap and fellowship would be
nice. If someone would like to head one up, work out the details
and announce it at the graduation or family day that will be
super!
Several field trips were on the agenda this year but plans did
not
solidify. Anyone who would like to plan these events for next
year, it
would be appreciated.
Hope to see you all at the family field day and then at
graduation! If you are unable to attend either event, look for
e-mails, phone calls and newsletters about up and coming events
next fall!!
